Info
Ego Ella May, a British-Nigerian singer-songwriter from southeast London, is performing in Paris for the first time. On Thursday, 17 June 2026, she will take the stage at New Morning to present Good Intentions, her second album released on 20 March, following Honey For Wounds (2020).
On the bill are warm jazz textures, finely crafted alt-soul and introspective songwriting. Self-produced alongside Alfa Mist, Melo Zed, LVTHER, Beat Butcha, TAVE and Wu-Lu, the new material explores community, liberation and vulnerability, with echoes of Marvin Gaye’s soul. It features the previously released tracks “What You’re Waiting For,” “What We Do,” “We’re Not Free” and “Don’t Take My Lover Away.”
On stage, Ego Ella May favors measured tempos, flexible harmonies and a hushed vocal delivery that lets the instruments breathe, in continuity with the London jazz scene. Nourished by reading ranging from Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie to Joan Didion, she weaves songs rooted in everyday life, balancing relaxed grooves, flowing melodies and intimate lyrics.
