On 8 May 2026 at M. Musée du Vin in Paris’s 16th arrondissement, French trumpeter Fabien Mary presents a Baritone & Organ Combo conceived for low timbres and the organ’s palette. A leading figure on the French jazz scene, he places his trumpet in a play of contrasts: clear lines, precise phrasing, choruses that intersect with the grain of a baritone and the textures of the organ. This compact format opens space for conversation: short riffs, call-and-response, melodies that breathe, and a supple pulse. The music offers a direct sound, simply sketched themes, and moods that establish themselves without artifice. Fabien Mary relies on composition and balance: legible motifs, harmonies that slide into place, and a way of letting each voice occupy its own ground. A human-scale set, led by a bright trumpet, sustained by the baritone’s low end and powered by the organ’s energy.
