China Crisis

On 16 April 2026, China Crisis play TRAIN in Aarhus, Denmark. Born on the outskirts of Liverpool in the late ’70s, the group revolves around Gary Daly (vocals, keyboards) and Eddie Lundon (guitar, vocals). Rooted in British new wave, their sound folds supple basslines, melodic synths and clean guitar work into songs with a reflective streak, somewhere between synth-pop, soft post-punk and sophisti-pop. The early single African and White opened the door to the debut Difficult Shapes & Passive Rhythms (1982) and Working with Fire and Steel (1983), which set their tone. The collaboration with Steely Dan’s Walter Becker on Flaunt the Imperfection (1985) refined the arrangements, followed by What Price Paradise (1986) and Diary of a Hollow Horse (1989). After Warped by Success (1994) they slowed releases before returning with Autumn in the Neighbourhood (2015). On stage, Daly and Lundon bring these tracks to life in a duo-led lineup that can expand, trading harmonies, guitar figures and synth textures across a set spanning early singles to later cuts.
