Sort Sol

Sort Sol plays Vega in Copenhagen on May 15, 2026. Born in late‑70s Copenhagen as Sods, the band started with abrasive punk before shifting toward a more exploratory rock language. Centered on Steen Jørgensen’s deep, detached voice, with Knud Odde and Tomas Ortved among its pillars, Sort Sol has moved from post‑punk and cold‑wave rigor to darker atmospheres and leaner melodies. Early albums Minutes to Go (1979) and Under en sort sol (1980) set a taut, minimal frame, expanded on Dagger & Guitar (1983) and Everything That Rises Must Converge (1987). In the 1990s came more spacious, pop‑leaning structures on Flow My Firetear (1991), Glamourpuss (1993) and Unspoiled Monsters (1996), followed by the more direct Snakecharmer (2001). After a long pause, Stor Langsom Stjerne (2017) reconnected the threads between atmospheric rock, noise tension and melodic writing. Live, they draw across that catalogue with a steady, unhurried intensity.
