Info
Hip-Hop Celebration returns to Makeda on April 4, 2026 in Marseille. On the decks, DJ David Colas and DJ Big Chris will present a hip‑hop panorama that moves between classics, 90s gems and more recent discoveries. For this edition, a special guest takes the mic: Rocé, a rapper who links heritage, sharp lyricism and a strong sense of groove. An evening conceived for those who enjoy seeing hip‑hop culture tell its story live, between DJs’ selections and onstage speaking.
Rocé, born Youcef Kaminsky in Bab‑el‑Oued and the son of resistance fighter Adolfo Kaminsky, grew up in the Val‑de‑Marne (the “94”), close to Mafia K1Fry and DJ Mehdi’s label. Since his debut album Top départ in 2001, he has carved out a singular path between rap and jazz influences, notably on Identité crescendo (2006) alongside Archie Shepp and Gonzales, then L’être humain et le réverbère (2010) and Gunz n’Rocé (2013). In 2018 he published Par les damné.e.s de la terre, a compilation of French‑language texts and songs from the 1960s to the 1980s about colonialism, immigration and social struggles, the result of ten years of research carried out with two historians. A project that found an echo in the United States, the United Kingdom and Japan, and that continues to illuminate his presence on stage.
