Nass el Ghiwane returns to Paris with a concert at the Casino de Paris on June 4, 2026. Formed in the early 1970s in Casablanca’s working-class neighborhoods, the group shaped a signature sound that has left its mark on Moroccan urban music: singing in Darija, malhoun poetry, Gnawa repertoires and Sufi influences intertwine. Partly emerging from the theatre—around the experiments of Tayeb Saddiki—they carry texts that speak of popular conditions, spirituality and inner exile, supported by a stage arrangement of traditional percussion, strings and collective choral voices.
On stage, their repertoire unfolds in long rhythmic climaxes where voice, acoustic instrumentation and the energy of the group weave a shared narrative. Over the years, despite changes in line-up, Nass el Ghiwane has continued to tour and record, keeping alive an art that lies between popular music, politically engaged theatre and documentary memory—immortalized in particular by Ahmed El Maanouni’s film. In Paris, at the Casino de Paris, they offer a journey through their signature songs and new interpretations, in a form that favors attentive listening, gentle trance and the power of the shared chorus.
