Info
Max Mutzke & Marialy Pacheco will perform on April 24, 2027, at the Kulturetage in Oldenburg: a distinctive soul voice meets a sonically rich jazz piano. Together they bridge the space between song, groove and improvised dialogue.
Max Mutzke became nationally known in the mid-2000s, competed in the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest and has since built a career spanning soul-pop, funk and jazz. His songs—often in German—thrive on a warm, expressive vocal delivery supported by acoustic band sound; in addition, he regularly collaborates with large ensembles such as the NDR Radiophilharmonie. Live he opens his repertoire to new interpretations, from quiet ballads to powerful, driving numbers.
Marialy Pacheco, who grew up in Cuba, brings a piano style that combines rhythmic precision with melodic lightness. Her lines draw on Latin influences and contemporary jazz, sometimes delicately nuanced, sometimes powerful and percussive. In the duo with Mutzke she provides clear counterpoints, leaves space and at the same time propels the energy forward.
This set focuses on the encounter of voice and keys: familiar songs in fresh colors, spontaneous transitions, and plenty of room for dynamics and interaction.
