Velours Velours

On May 14, 2026, at La Dame de Canton in Paris, Velours Velours arrives with a direct Francophone pop, led by Montrealer Raphaël Pépin-Tanguay. Born in 2022 with the EP Fauve, co-produced with Philippe Brach, his project carves out a path between indie folk and retro hues, where youthful ardor meets a more intimate songwriting approach.

In two years, Velours Velours has played stages across Quebec and then France, up to the Printemps de Bourges, affirming a live presence suited to both venues and festivals. His first album, Quand je pleure, je suis content, released on January 31, 2025, gathers these colors into ten well-defined songs in which the voice remains central and the arrangements balance tenderness and tension. Selected by FIP upon its release, the record confirmed his place in the new wave of Francophone pop.

On stage, these tracks gain depth, shifting from hushed confidences to more luminous surges, without losing the thread of lyrics that speak in the present. At La Dame de Canton, Velours Velours comes to perform and champion this album and his early songs, with the straightforward energy of a project that keeps moving forward.
