Les Inrocks Festival takes over Centquatre - 104 in Paris on Thursday, March 12, 2026, with a bill that brings together Wu Lyf, Jehnny Beth, Soko and Sonic Boom.
Formed in Manchester, Wu Lyf (World Unite Lucifer Youth Foundation) delivers indie rock marked by saturated organs, dense guitars and Ellery James Roberts’s throaty vocals. Go Tell Fire to the Mountain, recorded in 2011 in a church, laid the groundwork: slow crescendos, emphatic rhythms and cryptic lyrics. The band operates as a unit, with a carefully crafted image and an aura of mystery.
After her time with Savages, Jehnny Beth has pursued a solo path with writing that straddles post-punk and electronics. To Love Is to Live (2020) opened a more personal, cinematic direction; You Heartbreaker, You, created with Johnny Hostile, sharpens that into a frontal, no-nonsense sound.
From I’ll Kill Her to I Thought I Was an Alien, Soko established an intimate lo-fi pop before shifting toward new wave and post-punk hues with My Dreams Dictate My Reality. Feel Feelings (2020) continues this introspective line, focused on vocals and spacious arrangements.
Under the name Sonic Boom, Peter Kember, co-founder of Spacemen 3, blends psychedelia with electronic experimentation. All Things Being Equal (2020) layers drones, minimalist keyboards and looped drum machines into a slowed, textured pop. At the same time, his productions for MGMT and Panda Bear carve out a distinct sonic imprint.
