Info
On October 28, 2026 Walter Trout will perform at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. The American guitarist and singer, born in Ocean City in 1951, developed his sound at the intersection of electric blues and 1960s rock. In Los Angeles he learned the trade as a sideman for blues and soul artists; later came stints with Canned Heat and John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers—experiences that sharpened his tone, timing and singing.
In the late 1980s he formed the Walter Trout Band and released Life in the Jungle (1989), the blueprint for his mix of extended guitar themes, driving grooves and slow ballads. Records such as Blues for the Modern Daze (2012), The Blues Came Callin’ (2014), Battle Scars (2015) and We’re All in This Together (2017) show a songwriter who composes close to life, with unmistakable autobiographical traces.
On stage Trout moves between his own material and classics, leaving room for improvisation and a dialogue between vocals and guitar. Expect shuffles, mid‑tempo rock and stripped‑down slow blues, tightly executed by a band that gives him space to breathe. In Amsterdam that repertoire will come together in a set that focuses on the heart of contemporary blues rock: personal stories, measured tension and guitar lines that keep resonating.
