Alela Diane

On 25 May 2026 Alela Diane will perform at LantarenVenster in Rotterdam. The singer-songwriter from Nevada City found her own niche in folk music from the early 2000s: voice front and center, acoustic guitar as the foundation, plenty of space for silence and detail. The Pirate’s Gospel gave her an early breakthrough in 2004, followed by the hushed To Be Still and a more band-oriented phase with Alela Diane & Wild Divine. She then returned to a more intimate approach on About Farewell and explored a more instrumental direction with guitarist Ryan Francesconi on Cold Moon. With Cusp and Looking Glass she refined that path: spare folk ballads, soft country accents, piano and strings that serve the song.
