Yonaka

Yonaka will play on 10 June 2026 at Melkweg, Amsterdam. The four-piece from Brighton — Theresa Jarvis (vocals), George Werbrouck-Edwards (guitar), Alex Crosby (bass, keys) and Robert Mason (drums) — moves smoothly between alternative rock and pop rock, with sharp punk edges and rhythms that draw on hip-hop and contemporary pop. Think massive guitars, compact verses and choruses that land immediately, without losing the melodic thread.

Since the EPs Heavy (2017), Teach Me To Fight (2018) and Creature (2018), the band has gradually built a reputation. The debut album Don’t Wait ’Til Tomorrow (2019) brought more intimate themes and mental health to the forefront, after which the mixtape Seize The Power (2021) broadened their palette with a more hybrid approach. On the EP Welcome To My House (2023), Yonaka seek the balance between direct energy, accessible structures and a tighter, more modern sound.

Live, this translates into a set that emphasizes dynamics and tension: tight grooves, sudden accelerations and hooks that find their way from the early EPs to the more recent material. A show that bridges the rawness of rock and the songcraft of pop, just as Yonaka have been doing on festival and club stages in recent years.
