On 25 April 2026 Danny Vera will perform at SPOT/De Oosterpoort in Groningen. The Middelburg songwriter builds his songs at the intersection of rock ’n’ roll, Americana and a form of country-pop that evokes the orchestral ballads of the 1950s and ’60s. Live, it’s all about the voice and the story: twangy guitars, slow grooves, subtle strings and arrangements with plenty of space. With his regular band the performance remains compact and warm, sometimes with a rockabilly edge, sometimes whisper-soft.
Since Roller Coaster reached a wider audience, his work has become better known, but on stage the focus remains on restrained structure and clear melodies. Expect a set where small songs sit alongside broad, built-up ballads, with attention to dynamics, silences and a recognizable retro tone. New and older songs receive the same careful treatment, with emphasis on vocals, harmony and the rhythm of the story.
