Vanessa Paradis

Vanessa Paradis grew up on the outskirts of Paris and at fourteen suddenly became ubiquitous with “Joe le taxi.” Since then she has alternated between music and film, with a voice and a songwriting style that are immediately recognizable. Serge Gainsbourg wrote the lyrics for Variations sur le même t’aime; afterwards came records and tours that deepened her repertoire, from “Be My Baby” to Divinidylle and the double album Love Songs, produced by Benjamin Biolay. In between she collaborated with -M- on the soundtrack for Un monstre à Paris and continued to pursue various live projects. Her light, husky timbre and a preference for simple melodies form the common thread.

On 23 September 2026 Vanessa Paradis will appear at Melkweg, Amsterdam. Her concerts bring her French pop songbook to life: chansons with a light swing, soul accents and spare ballads, performed in French and English. Classics from her early years can surface alongside newer material, in clear arrangements featuring guitars, backing vocals and percussion.
