Toc Toc de Laurent Baffie

On June 17, 2026 at the Beaulieu Theatre in Nantes, Laurent Baffie’s Toc Toc gathers six patients in the same space, all waiting to consult the enigmatic Dr. Stern, a specialist in obsessive-compulsive disorders. Palilalia, Tourette’s syndrome, nosophobia or the compulsion never to step on the lines: the practitioner is kept waiting, and this lull becomes Baffie’s playground. His dialogue mechanics set tics, rituals and small avoidance strategies against one another, ultimately forcing these strangers to talk, size each other up and cobble together rules to get by.

Directed by Pascal Maillard, the cast brings this choral score to life with a keen ear for rhythms and verbal derailments: Mathieu Gaudin, Marie Elie, Sophie Morin, Nelly Pichotbadeaud, Kamal Rawas and Olivier Collin create characters both precise in their gestures and open to one another. Between involuntary confessions, attempts at control and improvised games, the group reveals the comedy of a tense coexistence, true to Laurent Baffie’s lively writing and his sense of offbeat timing.
