Girls in Hawaï

Girls in Hawaïi will play on 1 July 2026 at the Théâtre le Manège in Mons. Since the early 2000s Antoine Wielemans and Lionel Vancauwenberghe have been building their indie rock and melodic pop around two‑part vocals, crystalline guitars, discreet keyboards and supple rhythms. The songs, sung in English, often carry a light melancholy without losing sight of the melody.

From the fresh lines of From Here to There (2003) and Plan Your Escape (2008), through the rebuilding after the loss of drummer Denis Wielemans, to the more atmospheric hues of Everest (2013) and the nocturnal, electronically‑tinged atmospheres of Nocturne (2017): the repertoire has grown and become rich in nuance. With Hello Strange (2018) the band demonstrated how their songs still work in a stripped‑down format. Live, Girls in Hawaïi plays with dynamics and space: guitar layers that breathe, synths that subtly steer, and rhythms that shift between pulsing and intimate. Expect a set drawing from their catalogue, with attention to arrangement and vocal harmony, somewhere between warmth, wistfulness and clear hooks.
