Femi Kuti will take the stage on April 15, 2026 at the 6MIC in Aix-en-Provence, bringing the Afrobeat he has extended since his beginnings with Egypt 80. A saxophonist and singer, he advances with his band Positive Force a sound in which funk, jazz and highlife intersect over long grooves, brass to the fore and vocals in English, Pidgin or Yoruba. On stage, the groove leads the dance, driven by a precise ensemble and dancers who amplify the rhythmic flow. Between sax riffs, drum breaks and dense bass lines, the spirit of the New Afrika Shrine in Lagos surfaces without nostalgia, in direct exchange with the audience.

Long politically engaged, Femi Kuti grounds his lyrics in criticism of abuses of power and inequality, and his latest album, Journey Through Life, takes a more intimate turn, attentive to family and life’s journey. At the 6MIC, these new tracks converse with his signature songs in a set that also embraces R&B, rock and hip-hop influences, while never letting go of the Afrobeat thread that defines Positive Force.
