Femi Kuti arrives at L'Autre Canal in Nancy on April 10, 2026. A direct heir to Fela's afrobeat, he carries forward its socially charged message with a sound made for the stage, fueled by funk, jazz and highlife. His lyrics target corruption and inequality, driven by grooves that build tension and saxophone lines that blaze the trail. Surrounded by his band Positive Force and by dancers, he raises the pulse until everything becomes collective, in a spirit that recalls the nights at Lagos’s New Afrika Shrine.

His latest album, Journey Through Life, opens a more intimate window. Without abandoning the political dimension, Femi Kuti speaks there of family, life paths and personal growth—a focus that enriches his afrobeat without diluting its impact. After passing through the ranks of Egypt ’80 before founding Positive Force in 1986, he gradually introduced touches of R&B, rock and hip‑hop, while keeping at the core the long groove structures and the call-and-response with the audience. On stage, this blend shapes a physical, precise show where dance, brass and rhythm advance together, direct and purposeful.
