Alan Doyle with special guests The East Pointers

Info

On March 19, 2026 at Centennial Concert Hall in Winnipeg, Alan Doyle takes the stage with special guests The East Pointers for a night rooted in Atlantic Canada’s folk traditions and carried by unhurried, catchy melodies.

Alan Doyle, known as the singer and guitarist of Great Big Sea, has followed a solo path since 2012 with Boy on Bridge, then So Let’s Go and A Week at the Warehouse, plus the EPs Rough Side Out and Back to the Harbour. His set mixes coastal storytelling with Celtic-tinged folk rock, moving between acoustic ballads, call-and-response songs and punchier cuts. The writing draws on life in Newfoundland and Labrador while keeping arrangements open to accessible pop shapes.

The East Pointers, from Prince Edward Island, weave fiddle, banjo and guitar into a blend of Maritime Celtic dance rhythms and contemporary folk. From Secret Victory and What We Leave Behind to Yours To Break, they’ve steered their sound toward tighter songcraft and light electronic tones without losing the lift of reels and jigs. Since the passing of Koady Chaisson in 2022, the band has reconfigured and kept this hybrid repertoire alive on stage, inviting collaborators and balancing instrumental sets with songs shaped for today’s folk audience.
