Info

On April 9, 2026 at The Concert Hall in Toronto, Alice Phoebe Lou brings her Berlin-shaped indie sensibility to the stage. Raised in Kommetjie near Cape Town, she found her footing as a street performer after moving to Berlin, before building a steady path in small venues and on DIY tours. Her songs rest on a clear, front‑and‑center voice, pared‑back guitars, light touches of keyboards and a discreet rhythm section, with soul and blues shades running through the melodies. Working independently, she has released a line of records that map her trajectory: Orbit (2016), Paper Castles (2019), Glow and Child’s Play (2021), and Shelter (2023). Live, she shifts with ease between solo focus and tight band interplay, keeping the writing at the core.

Sharing the bill, John Andrews & The Yawns lean into a warm blend of East Coast indie, intimate folk rock, soft psych and country hues. Led by pianist and multi‑instrumentalist John Andrews (also involved with Woods and Quilt), the project runs on a flexible band setup that serves slow tempos, simple harmonies and vintage keys. Their albums Bit By The Fang (2015, Woodsist), Bad Posture (2017) and Cookbook (2021) sketch a gentle, slightly timeworn sound where soft guitars and unhurried bass lines set the tone. On stage, that palette turns into unforced songs with a quiet film‑score tint, a steady match for the room.
