The Fray - Summer of Light Tour

Info

The Fray bring their Summer of Light Tour to Centennial Concert Hall in Winnipeg on May 20, 2026. Formed in Denver in the early 2000s around singer‑pianist Isaac Slade and guitarist Joe King, the band shaped a piano‑driven alternative rock sound at the edge of pop rock and intimate ballads. Clean guitar lines, close harmonies and lyrics centered on relationships and questions of faith run through their writing. The breakthrough came with How to Save a Life in 2005, propelled by Over My Head (Cable Car) and the title track, widely heard on American TV. Follow‑ups The Fray (2009), Scars & Stories (2012) and Helios (2014) folded in brighter pop hooks and airy textures, before the 2016 compilation Through the Years marked a pause and made room for individual projects. On stage, the group draws across that catalogue, shifting from early singles to later material with a steady focus on melody and piano.

The Strumbellas join from Toronto with their mix of indie folk, alternative rock and a touch of country. Built around songs first penned by Simon Ward, the band leans on communal choruses and simple, repeat‑friendly refrains, from early releases to Hope (2016) and the widely shared Spirits, then Rattlesnake (2019) with a poppier tilt. Since 2022, Jimmy Chauveau handles lead vocals on tour while Ward remains the main songwriter, a new phase extended by Part Time Believer in 2024.
