Info
Dance Gavin Dance plays History in Toronto on May 24, 2026, with special guests Novelists. Formed in Sacramento in 2005, the band led by guitarist Will Swan and unclean vocalist Jon Mess sculpts a post-hardcore sound that shifts between screamed and clean vocals, melodic guitar lines and sharp rhythmic turns. From Downtown Battle Mountain through Happiness to Jackpot Juicer, their catalogue folds experimental rock, progressive detours, funk and R&B accents into structures that flirt with math rock and pop-leaning refrains. On stage, that mix moves between tight grooves, abrupt breaks and hooks with a clear edge, drawing across the band’s different eras.
Novelists brings a Parisian take on progressive metal and djent, now fronted by vocalist Camille Contreras. Guitarists Pierre Danel and Florestan Durand entwine intricate riffs with wide, atmospheric passages, shaping tracks like Coda or All for Nothing. The group has toured alongside Northlane, Periphery and ERRA, and rolls in with a set that reflects its current chapter, including the album Coda unveiled on May 16.
