On 20 August 2026 Ron Sexsmith will perform at the Kulturkirche Cologne. The Canadian songwriter from St. Catharines has, since the early ’90s, been known for an unpretentious blend of folk and pop, with pared-down arrangements and lyrics that observe relationships and everyday life. After early years with The Uncool he released his self-titled debut in 1995, followed by Other Songs (1997), Whereabouts (1999) and Blue Boy (2001), and later Cobblestone Runway (2002), Retriever (2004) and Long Player Late Bloomer (2011). Most recently Hermitage (2020) and The Vivian Line (2023) were released, continuing his line of compact, melodic songs. Live, Sexsmith puts the songs at the forefront: voice, guitar, clear melodies, small harmonic turns. In Cologne he will present material from three decades, from early ballads to more recent pieces — a concentrated set that showcases his precise songwriting without frills.
