On July 2, 2026, La Machine du Moulin Rouge presents Eric Johnson, the Austin-based guitarist and composer who has forged a singular path since the 1970s across rock, blues, jazz fusion, folk and touches of country. Renowned for his precise touch, clear melodies and keen harmonic sense, he alternates between a razor-sharp electric trio and more acoustic interludes. He is the author of notable albums such as Tones, Ah Via Musicom, Venus Isle, Bloom, Up Close, EJ, followed by The Book of Making and Yesterday Meets Today.

On stage, his playing emphasizes detail and dynamics, from choruses with a crisp, pristine tone to harmonic progressions that take their time without losing energy. Johnson has often crossed paths with other six-string masters, from Mike Stern (Eclectic) to the G3 project with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai—encounters that have broadened his palette without excess. The evening is driven by instrumental guitar, between groove, restrained lyricism and melodic sensibility.
