Ari Lennox brings The Vacancy Tour to Massey Hall in Toronto on May 21, 2026. Born in Washington, D.C., Courtney Shanade Salter has shaped a blend of R&B and neo-soul rooted in 90s influences and clear, narrative writing. After a first run of self-released projects, she joined J. Cole’s Dreamville in 2015 as the label’s first woman artist, moving between her own releases and the collective’s compilations. The Pho EP (2016) set the tone, then Shea Butter Baby (2019) followed, its title track first heard on the Creed II soundtrack with J. Cole. In 2022, age/sex/location extended that path with laid-back, voice-led production and intimate stories about relationships, sexuality and everyday life.
