On 17 May 2026 Ne‑Yo and Akon will perform at the AFAS Dome in Antwerp as part of the Nights Like This Tour 2026. Two familiar voices from 2000s R&B and pop will share the same evening: from smooth hooks to club‑ready choruses, with detours into hip‑hop, dance and afro‑pop.
Ne‑Yo, raised in Las Vegas, began as a songwriter for others before stepping into the spotlight himself. Since In My Own Words (2006) he has delivered an R&B with soul accents and melodies focused on relationships, followed by Because of You and Year of the Gentleman, where midtempo ballads and hip‑hop productions intersect. With Libra Scale, R.E.D., Non‑Fiction, Good Man and Self Explanatory he moved closer to pop and electronic influences without losing his songwriting touch. Live, this comes across as tightly constructed verses and choruses that stick.
Akon, born in St. Louis and raised between New Jersey and Senegal, builds his sound at the intersection of American urban music and African rhythms. With Trouble (2004), Konvicted (2006) and Freedom (2008) his R&B and hip‑hop shifted toward pop and dance, while as a producer and label head he helped bring new voices forward. Recent projects like El Negreeto and Akonda connect him to afro‑pop and club music. On stage he mixes melodic lines, autotune hues and rhythms that keep moving. Together they deliver a set where their trajectories converge.
