Born in the countryside of central France, Les Bodin’s have built, since the 1990s, a comic universe firmly rooted in rural everyday life. Led by Vincent Dubois and Jean-Christian Fraiscinet, the duo stages Maria Bodin — a no‑nonsense countrywoman — and her son Christian, who stayed on the farm, to slyly examine the frictions between generations, tradition and modernity. Rapid-fire dialogue, a proudly displayed accent, situations that spiral out of control, and a farmer’s eye for detail make up their trademark.

Their show Grandeur Nature, which began outdoors on a farm in Touraine before being adapted for the tour, is back on the road after the excitement around their 30th anniversary. With an expanded farm set, small domestic catastrophes and sharp jabs at the times, it’s popular theatre that laughs at rural life while looking at it up close. Les Bodin’s continue to take their audience where their characters feel most at home: in full-scale, real-life situations that get right to familiar foibles and family ties.
