Info
On March 1, 2026, at 6MIC in Aix-en-Provence, Robert Finley brings a Louisiana-soaked blues. Long a street musician, he released his first album at 62, Age Don’t Mean a Thing, then crossed paths with Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys), with whom he created Goin’ Platinum, Sharecropper’s Son and Black Bayou (2023). Despite his progressive loss of sight, he writes songs rich in lived experience, carried by a rough yet warm voice. On stage, Finley blends blues, Southern soul, rock’n’roll, sometimes touches of jazz and folk, and each song tells a piece of the journey.
Leyla McCalla, born in New York to Haitian parents, weaves a sound where American folk, Creole music and influences from Africa and the Caribbean meet. Trained as a cellist and also a tenor-banjo player and guitarist, she first made her mark with the Carolina Chocolate Drops, co-founded Our Native Daughters, and then established herself as a solo artist. Her new album, Sun Without the Heat, explores joy, transformation and Afro-diasporic legacies, from the breath of afrobeat to the spareness of folk. Inspired by Afrofuturist thinkers and figures like Frederick Douglass, she examines the quest for freedom and collective responsibility. Winner of the People’s Voice Award in 2022, she delivers engaged music that connects the past to the present.
