Cedric Burnside

On March 19, 2026, at La Luciole in Alençon, Cedric Burnside plunges into the Hill Country blues of northern Mississippi, a tradition passed down in his family for generations. A drummer and guitarist and a Grammy winner, he extends R. L. Burnside’s legacy with hypnotic playing, stripped-down riffs and tight grooves. His music preserves the atmosphere of juke joints and wooden porches while crossing rock, R&B and hip-hop.

His latest album, Hill Country Love, was recorded in two days in a former law office converted into a juke joint, with Luther Dickinson producing. It features stories of the road, family and everyday life, carried by a minimal rhythmic foundation, a direct vocal and dry, clipped picking. On stage he alternates between guitar and drums, establishing a circular tempo and a simple, tenacious mood, as close as possible to the essential gesture of the blues. A concert rooted in a living heritage, faithful to a tradition that continues to reinvent itself.
