The Masonics (Rochester/Chatham) + Ludella Black
Born out of the bubbling Medway scene, The Masonics have been carrying a rough, direct rhythm and blues since 1991. The trio brings together Mickey Hampshire (The Milkshakes, Mickey And Ludella), Bruce Brand (The Pop Rivets, Thee Headcoats, The Kravin' A's, The Voo-Dooms) and John Gibbs (The Wildebeests, The Kaisers), three key figures of the British DIY rock’n’roll scene. Dry riffs, precise drumming, a sixties-inherited garage spirit — their sound aims for no-nonsense effectiveness. Ludella Black, Mickey Hampshire’s longtime collaborator, adds her voice and edge to a repertoire built for the stage.
The Squares (Nancy)
A trio from Nancy formed in the early 1990s, The Squares are often presented as France’s answer to the Medway scene. Raw rhythm and blues, in-your-face punk’n’roll, cellar-born energy: they toured clubs and basement venues across Europe before splitting in 1995. Recently reunited after nearly thirty years away for a Wild Weekend in Mallorca, they’re back on the road with the grit and concision that define them.
