Info

In 2026, Stephen ‘Mal’ Mallinder and Chris Watson return to the stage to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Cabaret Voltaire. Their first performance dates back to 13 May 1975 at the Refectory of the Sheffield Students’ Union, the starting point of a key group in British electronic music. Fifty years later, in a climate of social tensions and unsettled narratives, their sonic collages—fragments of voice, images and film—retain a particular presence, designed to unsettle habits and open up listening.

On 5 June 2026 at the Elysée Montmartre in Paris, the two original members present a live show faithful to the founding vision. The performance traverses the entire trajectory of Cabaret Voltaire: early industrial experiments, cut-ups and analog loops, followed by more rhythmic periods, with visual work at the heart of the setup. It is a revisiting of a long-term body of work, without frozen nostalgia, that re-engages the methods, materials and gestures that built the group’s identity.
