MIMAA

On March 12, 2026, MIMAA takes over Le Ferrailleur in Nantes for a live show conceived as a performance. As a teenager, she fed on musical theatre and closely observed orchestras, dancers and performers such as Liza Minnelli and Barbra Streisand. At 17 she left Occitanie for Paris and accumulated a range of experiences: dancer on television sets, stand‑in in The Wizard of Oz, and a voice on film soundtracks. The turning point came when she met beatmaker El Speaker, with whom she formed her first duo.

Under the name MIMAA, singer Laury Perez hones a songwriting approach that blends trap rhythms, melodic pop, traditional Spanish music and echoes of the Romani culture of southern France. Of Spanish and Sicilian descent, she claims a heritage that resurfaces in “Gypsy,” her first defining track. On stage she brings together singing, movement and stage presence—born of her early love for musical theatre—in a direct, no‑frills format. Each piece slots together like a tableau, balancing urban energy and Mediterranean inflections, in a proposition where performance remains at the centre.
