Info
Tinariwen, a Tuareg collective born in Mali, laid the foundations of what is called desert blues, which they name assuf, a Tamasheq word that expresses nostalgia and the distant homeland. After the years of rebellion in the early 1990s, the group transformed their experience into music, with guitars playing cyclical patterns, gravelly voices and a supple rhythm that blends Saharan tradition with electric elements.
On May 12, 2026 at the Bikini in Ramonville Saint-Agne, they presented a repertoire shaped by the road and by encounters. Guitar lines answer one another, the percussion establishes a steady pulse, and the songs tell of attachment to the desert, friendship and absence. With spare instrumentation, Tinariwen preserves the acoustic backbone that is their signature while letting electric colors surface and a measured sway emerge, between gentle trance and ballad.
For more than two decades they have carried assuf onto stages around the world and brought attention to a language, a poetry and a culture. In concert, everything is decided in the details: a chorus that stretches, a choir that settles in, a riff that returns and gives the piece its structure.
