The Dead South arrives on March 24, 2026 at 6MIC in Aix-en-Provence. An acoustic quartet from Regina, Saskatchewan, the band blends folk and bluegrass with an unusual lineup: banjo, mandolin, guitar and cello. With tight harmonies, crisp riffs and a propulsive, trotting pulse, their songs range from dark ballads to frenetic gallops. Their songwriting draws on Western imagery—dusty roads and small-town chronicles—carried by spare arrangements that let the vocals breathe. On stage there’s heel-stomping, percussive string slaps, and call-and-response harmonies delivered with a storytelling drive that brings the audience close. It’s a return to France to reconnect with a rootsy, precise, unadorned sound designed for live performance. Opening act to be discovered at the venue.
