Info
PIANO POP takes up residence at the Folies Bergère in Paris on April 7, 2026 for an evening devoted to today’s piano. Headlining is Tony Ann, a Canadian pianist and composer who brings classical precision into dialogue with contemporary pulse. His pieces favour clear melodies, raw, close-to-the-surface emotion and meticulous writing, conceived as much for the stage as for intimate listening. Here he appears in an expanded formation with ARKAI, a violin-and-cello duo whose textures extend his themes and open his pieces toward a chamber-music sensibility.
Among his recent milestones, Tony Ann recorded in 2025 Lang Lang’s only featured appearance on the album Piano Book 2, with a four-hands version of “ICARUS.” In 2026 he returns to European stages accompanied by ARKAI, collaborators on his orchestral versions.
Opening the date are Louisiana Bloom and Van, faces of the new wave of contemporary piano, presenting a prelude that echoes the festival’s aesthetic. PIANO POP, the first touring edition, brings together contemporary keyboard writing and highlights artists who challenge the concert format.
