Florian Christl

On 20 March 2026, Les Trois Baudets in Paris will host the German pianist and composer Florian Christl. His playing draws on a piano that is at times soothing, at times incisive, threaded with precise string arrangements. Clear melodies, deliberate breathing and a sense of contrast compose a writing that favors clarity and dynamics without excess.

At the heart of his work is improvisation. For Christl, composing is an intimate and solitary undertaking, conceived as a personal space for listening. He seeks to create a parenthesis in which everyday life is put at a distance, where the music invites one to slow down, let thoughts flow and regain a simple presence.

Since 2018, Florian Christl has been releasing recordings on Sony Classical, with four albums to date. His first record, Inspiration, entered the Top 10 of the German classical charts, as did the subsequent releases, and has reached a wide audience on streaming platforms. In concert, he transposes this aesthetic with the piano at the forefront and strings that extend the themes, privileging relief, detail and an organic progression.
