Shed
Con il nome Shed, René Pawlowitz sviluppa fin dalla fine degli anni ’90 un percorso strettamente legato alle scene elettroniche tedesche. Nato nel 1975 a Francoforte sull’Oder e cresciuto a Schwedt/Oder, si trasferisce a Berlino nel 2002, dove fonda l’etichetta Soloaction Records e pubblica il suo primo EP, Red Planet Express, nel 2004. La musica di Shed oscilla tra techno, house, breakbeat hardcore e influenze UK bass, con una scrittura spesso diretta, basata su ritmi asciutti, tessiture scure e una costante attenzione alla dinamica della pista da ballo. Ha inoltre moltiplicato gli alias, ciascuno associato a un registro preciso: WAX per una techno più grezza, Head High per una house più frontale, Hoover1 per forme vicine al breakbeat e alla jungle, oltre a Evil Fred. La sua discografia come Shed comprende tra l’altro gli album Shedding the Past (2008), The Traveller (2010), The Killer (2012), The Final Experiment (2017), Oderbruch (2019) e Towards East (2022). Tra le uscite rilevanti figurano anche Deuce, un EP realizzato con Marcel Dettmann nel 2009, e gli EP The Dirt (2013), Constant Power (2014) e Applications (2024).
