Neophyte

Nato nel 1992 attorno a Jeroen Streunding, Danny Greten e Robin van Roon, Neophyte si inserisce nella scena gabber di Rotterdam e Schiedam, nei Paesi Bassi, nel momento in cui l’hardcore olandese si sta strutturando. Il progetto sviluppa un sound frontale, veloce e denso, costruito su ritmi martellanti, kick saturati e brevi sample vocali, con un’estetica a metà tra old‑school hardcore, gabber e un hardcore più moderno. Le prime uscite, The Three Amiga’s E.P. e Protracker E.P. del 1993, seguite da Noise Is the Message nel 1994, stabiliscono rapidamente l’identità di Neophyte, proseguita con Execute nel 1996 e Real Hardcore nel 1997. Dopo l’uscita di Robin van Roon, Jarno Butter si unisce alla formazione per le performance live, mentre Neophyte prosegue la sua traiettoria con Not Enough Middle Fingers nel 2000, At War nel 2001, InvasionInvasion nel 2007 e Mainiak: Chapter 1 nel 2011 e Mainiak: Chapter 2 nel 2013. Legato a Rotterdam Records e poi a Neophyte Records, il nome circola anche attraverso altri progetti legati ai suoi membri, come Bodylotion o Masters of Ceremony, e incrocia regolarmente artisti della scena hardcore quali The Stunned Guys, Evil Activities, Tha Playah, Promo e Angerfist.
