Info
On May 11, 2027, Midway Music Hall in Edmonton hosts Ocean Alley for their “North America ’27” run, with the Sydney six-piece bringing its slow-burn groove and sunlit psych textures to the stage. Since their early EPs and Lost Tropics, the band has kept shaping a sound where surf rock edges meet dub and funk pulse, carried by expansive guitars, hazy keys, and a bass line that drives the whole thing forward. Expect a set that moves between loose, laid-back atmospheres and tighter, more direct songwriting, pulling from the melodic stretch of Chiaroscuro and the later run of albums through Love Balloon.
Mild Orange opens the night with their own brand of dreamy indie pop, built on airy guitars and hushed rhythms. The Dunedin quartet leans into mood and melody rather than big gestures, gliding through the soft-focus side of indie rock with psychedelic touches. Their songs tend to sit in that late-night tempo sweet spot, the kind that fills a room without ever forcing it, drawing from the steady arc of Foreplay, Mild Orange, and Looking for Space.
