Info
On May 27, 2027, Steel Pulse arrives at La Belle Electrique in Grenoble for an English-style roots reggae live show, driven by their vocal harmonies and a tight rhythm section, bass upfront and a clearly defined backbeat. Formed in 1975 in Handsworth, Birmingham, the band grew up amid the ferment of struggles and crosscurrents between Jamaican heritage and the energy of the Rock Against Racism era. On stage, you can see what has defined their identity since Handsworth Revolution and Tribute to the Martyrs: tight, direct songs whose lyrics address racism, social inequality, and the Black diaspora, without ever losing the groove. With David Hinds at the center, Steel Pulse traverses the ages by widening their palette without letting go of the core: from the broader breath of the 1980s to more recent albums like Mass Manipulation. A date to relearn a lesson in engaged reggae, on a human scale, and above all, very lively.
