Info
Joshua Burnside lands at Wylam Brewery in Newcastle upon Tyne on May 12, 2027, bringing his particular brand of experimental folk: songwriting rooted in Irish tradition but constantly nudged off-axis by alternative electronica, found sounds, and unorthodox production choices. It’s folk that doesn’t sit still, where acoustic intimacy can suddenly blur into sound collage or a sharper rhythmic pulse.
This show is shaped by the emotional core of his recent work, a set of songs circling grief, love, and that stubborn instinct to keep going. “With You” faces the strange, numb reality of standing at a friend’s grave; “Good Times” hides its despair under a bright melody, with a sardonic edge; and the title track “It’s Not Going to Be Okay” turns anger and confusion into something closer to release. Expect a live set that moves between fragility and friction, with lyrics that stay direct and details that linger.
