Agnes Obel arrives in Madrid on 20 October 2027 at The Music Station with ‘The Meaning Of Flowers’, a live show conceived to let herself be carried away by her chamber-pop: piano at the forefront, voice in the foreground, and a string arrangement that ebbs and flows like a pulse. The Danish composer, based between Copenhagen and Berlin, builds songs where intimate folk meets a writing style close to the classical, without the need for grand gestures. On stage, her songs tend to grow from minimal, repetitive patterns into very closely stacked vocal layers, almost whispered, creating that suspended sensation that runs through albums such as ‘Philharmonics’ or ‘Aventine’. There is also room for her more conceptual side, with structures that spin around themselves as in ‘Citizen of Glass’ and the introspective tension of ‘Myopia’. A concert to listen to up close, with sober dynamics and a cinematic atmosphere.
