Info
Kelley Stoltz is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and a cornerstone of the DIY spirit of American indie rock. Born in New York in 1971 and raised in Michigan, he began recording in the late 1990s in his own home studio in San Francisco, where he developed a sound that blends psychedelic pop and garage rock. Throughout his career he has released numerous records on labels such as Sub Pop, Third Man, and Castle Face Records, often playing most of the instruments himself. His music is typically compared to the melodic sensibility of 1960s pop and to the quirky character of power pop and 1980s new wave.
Following the release of his 18th album, La Fleur (2024), Stoltz returns in 2026 with If You Don’t Know Me, Buy Now, his 19th studio album. The record continues to explore his characteristic psych-pop full of melodic hooks, introspective lyrics, and arrangements rich in nuance. The album features vocal collaborations with artists such as Brigid Dawson (Thee Oh Sees), Karina Denike (Dance Hall Crashers), Pete Straus (The Dwarves), and Allyson Baker (Dirty Ghosts).
A regular presence in outlets such as MOJO or BrooklynVegan, Stoltz has also been a member of Echo & the Bunnymen as a rhythm guitarist and is currently the drummer in Robyn Hitchcock’s West Coast band. Additionally, he hosts the Vinelands program on KEXP, dedicated to the Bay Area music scene.
Kelley Stoltz will perform at the Sala Upload in Barcelona on October 29, 2026 at 7:00 PM.
