Formed in 2002 in Moscow by Masha and Warlock, Arkona pays homage through its music to nature, to pagan beliefs and to the historical past of their country, through metal steeped in folklore. After a first Rus demo, the band's lineup evolves and Masha teams up with the members of Nargathrond. Together, they record Revival. Hardly had the first album hit shelves when Masha devoted herself to composing Lepta, the second album, which would see the light in the winter of 2004.
From the third opus, Vo Slavu Velikim, the group decides to put the synth aside a little and to use traditional ethnic instruments, which gives rise to numerous live and studio collaborations. Following these three first albums, the group subsequently releases Ot Serdca K Nebu (2007), Goi, Rode, Goi! (2009), Slovo (2011), Yav (2014), Vozrozhdenie (2016) and Khram (2018). Arkona returns five years later with its ninth studio album, Kob' (2023), released via Napalm Records.
Returning for a European tour, Arkona brings along two French black metal acts in tow, Seth and The Great Old Ones. Concert on December 20, 2026 at La Machine du Moulin Rouge.
