Freak Power return to London on February 19, 2027 at 229 London, bringing back the groove-heavy project sparked in the early 90s by Ashley Slater and Norman Cook, years before the Fatboy Slim era took over. Their sound sits right at the junction of acid jazz, funk, soul and trip hop: warm basslines, loose drum patterns, and vocals that slide between sung hooks and spoken lines.
The set is expected to lean on the records that built their cult reputation, starting with ‘Turn On, Tune In, Cop Out’, the 1994 breakthrough built around a rare-groove sample and later pushed into global circulation. From there, it’s the deep cuts and singles from Drive-Thru Booty and More of Everything for Everybody that shape the night: ‘Rush’, ‘Get in Touch’, ‘Waiting for the Story to End’, ‘Can You Feel It?’, ‘Let It Go’ and ‘New Direction’. Reunited on stage in recent years, Freak Power’s live show is about that 90s UK club feel, played with a band’s energy and a producer’s sense of punch.
