Emma Ruth Rundle comes to Chalk in Brighton on April 11, 2027, bringing the solo side of her work into focus: intimate songs where the voice sits close, carried by piano, bare guitars and slow-building textures. Known to many for heavier, electric terrain with Nocturnes, Marriages and Red Sparowes, she shifts here toward something more direct and vulnerable, shaped by a folk upbringing in Los Angeles and a taste for atmosphere learned in post-rock.
Her solo writing moves between dark folk, ambient and experimental rock, with room for hushed arpeggios, saturated crescendos and melodies that never overplay their hand. It’s the kind of set that pulls you in quietly, song by song, letting the intensity build without losing that confessional edge that runs through her records from Some Heavy Ocean to Engine of Hell.
