On January 17, 2027, Chinese American Bear arrive at Locomotiv Club in Bologna with their bilingual pop, delightfully odd and full of groove. Behind the name are Anne Tong and Bryce Barsten, a couple in life and in the studio: a project born between Seattle and an imagined universe that fuses indie pop, C‑pop, and a light neo-psychedelia, with rapid choruses and melodies that linger.
On the setlist is their entire world: songs that effortlessly switch from English to Mandarin, stories of love and family, small daily details, Chinese-American food and culture, always with a dreamy touch. In recent years they have built a more direct songwriting approach, album after album, up to Dim Sum & Then Some, where between floating guitars, synths and strings the disco and electronic side expands and becomes hypnotic. A live show designed to dance and to get lost in it, following a pop song one by one.
