On 20 April 2027, the European Tour 2027 brings Simple Minds to Olympia Hall in Munich. At the center are Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill, who have shaped the band's sound since the late 1970s: emerging from the tense New Wave corner, increasingly opening toward synthetic textures, driving rhythms, expansive guitar textures, and melodies built for the big stage. On stage, this dense post-punk DNA meets the later, clearer rock approach—with room for the defining 80s moments as well as material from the newer albums up to Direction of the Heart.
As the support, Level 42 will be on the bill. Around Mark King's distinctive basslines and Mike Lindup's keyboards, their live mix of Jazz-Funk, Fusion and pop 80s aesthetics comes across especially direct: groove-oriented, cleanly played, with the catchy hooks from the World Machine era to Running in the Family—and the typical, buoyant band feeling that has kept them on tour to this day.
