Assassin is a French hip-hop group founded in Paris in the mid-1980s, led by its frontman Rockin' Squat, a prominent figure in militant rap in France. A precursor of conscious and free hip-hop, the group established itself from its very beginnings with uncompromising lyrics, engaged lyrics, and a clearly asserted artistic freedom.
Assassin is the first French rap group to achieve a gold record while entirely independent by producing and distributing its music through its own label, Assassin Productions. The group thus became a reference and a major influence on this culture in France and abroad.
With more than a million albums sold and cult titles, Assassin has influenced several generations of artists. In 2026, the group marks its return with a new album and a tour, faithful to its militant, creative DNA and to its artistic standards. The odyssey continues and nothing can stop it.
