On November 20, 2026 in Nice, the Grande Masterclass brings together two musicians who speak the same language without ever playing the same phrase. Richard Bona arrives with his distinctive way of making the bass sing: a melodic, almost vocal playing, nourished by jazz and Cameroonian rhythms, with forays into fusion, blues, and more acoustic songs. Having lived in Paris and then New York, he has built a music that travels between continents and always keeps the groove at its heart. Across from him, Biréli Lagrène unfurls his guitar between gypsy swing and modern jazz. Heir to Django but never in the copy, he knows how to move from acoustic phrasing to electric tone, slip into bebop or fusion, and return to swing with the same ease. An encounter designed as an open exchange, between virtuosity, listening, and freedom.
